The Business Problem

The Business Development team for Channel Sales -Belgium routinely surveyed customers for feedback, then manually summarized and presented the results for each region or country. This process took approximately 400 man-hours a year. So, the development office approached the Flexible Services’ OTA team and asked if they could come up with a better solution.

The aap3 Solution

After determining the Belgian office’s needs, OTA developed a series of macro programs that automatically:

  • Copy data from the surveys of selected partners per country/region into a standard Excel template
  • Summarize the data pivot tables
  • Generate a PowerPoint presentation based on the summarized data contained in both of the above.

As a result, not only were man-hours saved and the reports delivered more quickly, but data inconsistency from human error was eliminated. An added benefit of the OTA team solution is that beyond the initial requirements for automating the process of generating the reports, OTA created a macro that can dynamically generate pivot tables. This tool can be reused and applied to other report generation, by changing configuration setting; saving hours of future development effort.
